The lichfield gospels recently more often referred to as the st chad gospels but also known as the book of chad the gospels of st chad the st teilo gospels the llandeilo gospels and variations on these is an 8th century insular gospel book housed in lichfield cathedral there are 236 surviving pages eight of which are illuminated.

A carpet page from the lindisfarne gospels carpet pages are a characteristic feature of insular illuminated manuscripts. The layout of the only surviving carpet page bears a striking resemblance to that of the second carpet page in the lindisfarne gospels.
